On 20 September 2022, a workshop on “Communal Climate Action” was held at the Infocenter Berlin TXL, followed by a lunch and guided tours of the former airport site. Topics of the workshop were the transformation to climate-neutral neighbourhoods and the current requirements and challenges for municipalities. The participants and experts discussed lines of action as well as touchstones and mechanisms at the (administrative) political level. In order to support municipalities as transformational actors in the strategic climate adaptation of cities, the workshop looked at the latest findings from science and drew on the rich experience of diverse actors. The workshop brought together an international audience with researchers from TU Berlin, University of Potsdam and Bauhaus Erde, as well as stakeholders from practice, politics and society.
“Communal Climate Action” was part of the Sustainable Built Environnment Berlin conference, which will take place from 20 to 23 September 2022. The SBE creates a platform for integrative and transdisciplinary collaboration and exchange in the field of architecture, construction and urban planning to address current global challenges.
