The city of the future using the example of the Urban Tech Republic – Berlin Urban Tech Summit 2021

Under the motto “The city of the future using the Urban Tech Republic as an example”, the Berlin Urban Tech Summit 2021 will turn its spotlight on the future location Berlin TXL – The Urban Tech Republic and highlight the ideas and associated potential for Berlin as a business location. This year’s event will take place on Wednesday, 02 June 2021, as a virtual half-day conference from 14:00 to 18:00. It will be hosted by Ramona Pop, Senator for Economic Affairs, Energy and Operations. An Air France plane took off from Tegel on 8 November 2020. Flight AF1235 bound for Paris is the last in the airport’s history and ends an almost 60-year success story of Berlin aviation. The Berlin TXL project is now opening a completely new chapter. Tegel Projekt GmbH, founded in 2012, is creating an urban research and industrial park on the former airport site that is unique in its structure. The focus is on the efficient use of energy, environmentally friendly mobility and sustainable construction. Dr Philipp Bouteiller, CEO of Tegel Projekt GmbH, provides exciting insights into the current planning and the vision behind the project. “With the Urban Tech Republic,” says Bouteiller, “a new kind of inner-city network is being created in which future technologies can be researched, developed and produced simultaneously.” What will this urban network look like in concrete terms? What opportunities does it offer the growing city of Berlin as a business, science and residential location? Does the Urban Tech Republic have the potential to become a global benchmark for the local anchoring of sustainable urban technologies? These questions will be explored by a large number of interesting and expert speakers from industry, science and politics. In exciting discussions and insightful presentations, they will take a look at the smart city of tomorrow.
