The sound art “sonambiente berlin txl” celebrated the farewell to Tegel Airport from 21 August to 5 September with audio compositions, a virtual reality installation and sound performances. The initiators Matthias Osterwold, Florian Wachinger and Georg Weckwerth were able to win over outstanding artists for the festival. The art of the legendary Berlin musician and sound poet BLIXA BARGELD – founder and front man of the band Einstürzende Neubauten -, the Nigerian artist EMEKA OGBOH and the Scottish sound artist SUSAN PHILIPSZ, among others, resounded from the approximately 1,000 loudspeaker systems in the empty terminal halls.
American performance artist, musician and Grammy Award winner LAURIE ANDERSON and Taiwanese media artist HSIN-CHIEN HUANG also showed their virtual reality film installation “To the Moon” for the first time in Germany.
