The Urban Tech Republic is becoming a test area for autonomous and connected driving. The research project, called KIS’M, is a cooperation project between the Senate Department for the Environment, Mobility, Consumer and Climate Protection (SenUMVK) and eight other partners.
In the KIS’M project, an AI-based system for connected mobility is being tested that is intended to meet the challenges of autonomous, driverless and on-demand operation in dynamically growing service areas. Particularly important is the user-centred implementation and a socially accepted vision of the mobility of tomorrow. In the Urban Tech Republic, autonomously driving shuttles will take over the transport of passengers. These will drive on demand and completely without an attendant on board. Various aspects are to be tested, for example the automated formation of an emergency fund or various driving manoeuvres. The aim is to advance the field of scientific research and to create a basis for a broad application of automated and connected vehicles for the cities of tomorrow.
