Network Lunch FUTR HUB

Berlin TXL is to become a pioneer for the German capital on its way to becoming a smart city. At the first networking lunch for the development partners of the FUTR HUB on 23 August at the Infopunkt Berlin TXL, the focus was therefore on the cooperative model of the development partnership. The FUTR HUB is the centre of excellence for urban data, where the digital infrastructure for Berlin TXL and smart cities worldwide is developed together with location players and suppliers.

All participants were welcomed by Gudrun Sack, Managing Director of Tegel Projekt GmbH. This was followed by keynote speeches by Dr Ralf Kleindiek, CDO and State Secretary for Digital Affairs and Administrative Modernisation, and Dr Stefan Höffken, Head of Digitalisation at Tegel Projekt GmbH. Both are looking forward to further close cooperation. According to Dr Kleindiek, what is created in Berlin TXL can “radiate throughout the entire city”. He wants to support Tegel Projekt GmbH as much as possible in its plans for the FUTR HUB. For him, the topics of scalability, data protection and security and the free availability of data are in the foreground. This also requires a rethink in the administration. Dr Stefan Höffken also reiterated the demand “Public Money, Public Code”. He sees collaboration as the key to data quality and data availability. The participating development partners see the great potential of the FUTR HUB, not only for Berlin, but also for other cities, nationwide and internationally. It is important to make the digital applications tangible for citizens. Only with enthusiasm among the population can we succeed in taking people on a digital transformation journey. The lunch for the partners involved in the FUTR HUB was the first opportunity to exchange ideas in person after two years. After two years of completely digital work on various use cases in the working groups, all development partners now met on the project site. Everyone involved is looking forward to the Smart Country Convention in October 2022: this is where the FUTR HUB symposium will take place, where the work results of the development partnership will be presented as part of the trade fair.
