Mitsubishi Electric Corporation and the State of Berlin, represented by Tegel Projekt GmbH, have signed a letter of intent to jointly promote smart city applications. The aim of the desired partnership is to develop solutions for digital infrastructures and to develop reproducible concepts, for example for the energy-efficient operation of buildings.
Berlin’s Governing Mayor Kai Wegner and Frank Wolters, Managing Director of Tegel Projekt GmbH, visited the SUSTIE® research and development center in Kamakura, Japan, to learn about the technology group’s technological capabilities for increased energy efficiency, greater comfort and increased operational efficiency in buildings, including dynamic building simulations and platform solutions. The know-how available here can be used in the future for the cooperative development of pilot applications in Berlin TXL.
Berlin’s Governing Mayor Kai Wegner emphasizes the importance of the cooperation: “Berlin TXL in Tegel is Berlin’s center for cutting-edge urban technology and an emblem of our city’ s development into a leading location for innovation in Europe. We can only successfully fulfill this promise if we are ready to learn together as we work with outstanding partners. Mitsubishi Electric is a pioneer in innovative building technology. Their SUSTIE testing facility is a role model that impressively demonstrates the potential in this area, especially in terms of energy efficiency. Berlin will use the opportunities this cooperation offers to benefit the development of our city.”
Our Managing Director Frank Wolters is equally optimistic about the collaboration: “We want to realize a new level of smart, urban infrastructure at Berlin TXL. It is therefore an honor to welcome in Mitsubishi Electric a globally leading technology company as a development partner.”
The signing of the letter of intent marks the end of Berlin’s Governing Mayor Kai Wegner’s delegation trip to Tokyo, which took place under the motto “Berlin – Tokyo 2024: Innovative Solutions for Resilient Cities”.
