Better air through algae? That’s exactly what Solaga is researching and working on here at the Urban Tech Republic. The start-up specializes in algae systems that purify air and water of pollutants in a sustainable way.

Solaga UG specializes in the cultivation of algae mats in order to efficiently convert pollutants into valuable substances. Algae mats, so-called algae biofilms, can be used for sustainable CO2, air and water purification and are characterized by process-related advantages in energy and water consumption as well as in the maintenance and cleaning effort of the systems. The first products were algae images and walls, which were followed by the Urban Algae Filter, a product with several layers of biofilm for air and water purification in industrial plants and cities. The product portfolio also includes special orders to fulfill specific cleaning and conversion tasks. Previous references include well-known customers from the automotive, waste, real estate, communications and technology sectors.
